Updated statistics…..

graph imageOur new ‘radar’ chart is ready to view  here on our blog homepage – please take a look at the right hand side of this page and click on the chart type image to open up the newly updated Project statistics, showing a summary of results from health and well-being questionnaires undertaken with service users who attend our groups and activities here in North East Derbyshire.

Everyone who has taken part in North East Derbyshire activities on a regular basis has been asked a set of questions regarding their health and well-being at the start of their involvement and then again more recently this year, to see what impact the project has had on their lives. The results take an average of those results and shows an overall improvement in many ways over the past year.

The chart demonstrates the growth in confidence and improvement in many areas of the lives of the visually impaired people who have joined in with our project – particularly in ‘knowledge of services available’, ‘feeling happy’, ‘feeling useful’ and in general ‘life satisfaction’. Good news indeed!

Until next time……

A big thank you to the volunteers who helped out, serving teas and Valentine cakes.

As part of the monitoring from the Project funders (Big Lottery), we also had a visit from Davinder Palak (pictured below)  who came along to meet some of the people involved with the Project and find out what it means to them. I’m pleased to say that we received positive feedback from her on how things are progressing!

Food and Fundraising…..

Meal out at The Little Castle

Carvery sign - Little Castle

At the beginning of November,  20 of our North East Derbyshire group members went out on a trip to the Little Castle at Duckmanton for a carvery meal. With 3 volunteers and staff attending it was a lively, fun and busy afternoon.

Whilst chatting, two ladies found out that they used to work together many years ago:

Meeting up“If I’d stayed at home we would never have met, how lovely”, “Without coming here today on Maureen & Chloe’s trip we would never had the chance to meet again after all this time”

Everyone enjoyed their meal and also the service “The waiting staff have been really accommodating and helpful” – big thanks to the staff at The Little Castle for their support.little castle meal

Another lady said “I don’t know what I’d do without these outings and groups, I would hardly see a soul without it, what a happy afternoon it’s been”.
